Give Me Five!

Give Me Five ways you like to de-stress, relax, wind down or kick back.

1. I like to read juicy mystery/crime books.  But I hardly ever read anymore because I seem to be glued to the computer when I have free time. Also, after reading about 25 books to Cameron at night, I'm ready to go to sleep.

2. I love to draw/sketch with charcoal pencils.  This isn't to say that I'm good at it, I just really enjoy it.  I have a few drawings that I think are pretty good.  But anytime I try to draw human faces (especially noses) it turns out laughable.

3.  How about just vegging out in front of the TV.  This seems to be what I do most often to kick back.

4.  I take walks to de-stress.  Unless the weather is atrocious, I walk Buster every night.  But on the weekends I like to go out with my ipod and take a really long walk.  I also love to ride my bike when the weather permits.

5.  I love to listen to music.  When I'm cooking I set the ipod on shuffle and Cameron and I have fun listening to all our songs.

Give Me Five!

Give Me Five most often visited websites other than your blog and your email account...and why!

I'm a pop culture junkie...so when I'm not blogging or checking my email, I'm usually filling my brain with useless information about people that have no idea who I am.  But actually, I've gotten much better over the past year.  Here are my five top visited sites.

1. www.People.com, www.tmz.com, www.thesuperficial.com

I've lumped these together, because they're all about the same thing. Celebrity gossip.  Sad? Maybe...but I'm addicted. (And there are worse things to be addicted to)

2. Pop Culture Dish

Malcolm is into music and television, which I enjoy.  He's a human trivia machine, and he posts games, song lists, and interesting stuff worth reading.

3. Comedy Plus

Sandee is quite a character, and posts funny jokes and anecdotes.  Plus, she's always handing out cool awards.  Check out her blog if you need a laugh.

4. PayPerPost

Duh.  This is why you only have to read every other post. ;)

5. PayU2Blog

Yes, I'll say almost anything for five buckaroos.

Give Me Five!

Give Me Five vacation destinations you've already enjoyed or would like to some day.

What a fun topic this week, Becca!  I can't wait to go on vacation this year.  We are hoping to go to either Cancun or Pensacola, Florida this year.  I'd like to go before it gets too hot, like maybe in April or May.  But, we'll see!  Here are five of the vacation destinations that we've enjoyed over the past (almost) nine years.

1. Breckridge Breckenridge, Colorado

2. Sanfrancisco San Francisco, California

3. Maui Maui, Hawaii

4.  Cancun Cancun, Mexico

5. P1011990Pensacola, Florida

Give Me Five!

Give Me Five 'favorite searches' on Ebay (for shopping or browsing or any other ideas not selling related)!

This is an interesting Give Me Five this week!  We buy and sell stuff on ebay all the time.  I am still fascinated by the idea that you can find almost anything on there! Chris does most of the selling, I just like to browse, and occasionally bid.  Here are the last five searches I can remember making on ebay.

1. Children's Tunnels (click here to see the one Cameron received for Christmas).

2.  Dog Car Seats (We were actually getting ready to sell one that was too small for "B", and I wanted to see how much people were asking for similar seats.)

3.  LSU (needs no explanation, right?)

4.  The St. Louis Blues (I wanted to get Chris something fun for the hockey game we attended in December.)

5.  Voice Output Devices (We're working on using buttons to help Cameron communicate. He's doing great with the ones we're borrowing through our Speech Therapist, but soon we'll need to buy our own.)

Give Me Five!

Give me five things you like and/or dislike about your job.

Well, as a stay-at-home mom right now, I love my job.  I feel very blessed that I am able to stay home at this time in Cameron's life.

Here are five things I like/dislike about my "job".

1.  I love the freedom of being able to schedule my day as I see fit. I don't have to spend the weekends cramming in all the laundry and cleaning, etc.

2.  I like spending time with my son, and being there for his Physical/Occupational/Speech Therapy sessions.  He continues to make progress almost daily. I learn so much from them, and then I can work with him myself on the things that they suggest.

3.  I like having the time and energy to cook meals.  When I was teaching we ate a lot of frozen stuff that I would just throw in a pan or in the oven.

4.  I do miss the people I worked with and the kids, of course. I taught 3rd grade, and that's such a fun age.

5.  I don't like the fact that I don't talk to many adults during the day. I tend to bombard Chris at the door to tell him about our day : ).

Give Me Five!

This week's Give Me Five asks us to list 5 hopes or goals we have for the new year:

1. I would like to get into a REAL fitness routine. I get on kicks every few weeks, but I'd like to come up with something I can stick to!

2.  I want to keep in touch with friends and family more.  I am bad about not calling people.  This year I'd like to be the one that calls first (more often).

3.  I want to learn how to do something new.  I love to sketch with pencils, but I'd like to learn to paint or crochet or something.

4.  I want to read at least one new book a month.

5.  I want the LSU Tigers to win tonight!!! Geaux Tigers!!!

Give Me Five

Give Me Five Things you like and/or dislike about Christmas Trees(putting them up or fond memories, favorite ornaments, etc.)

***To participate in Give Me Five - head on over to  BeccA's Buzz!

1. I love Christmas trees!  We've been buying Frasier Firs every year since we've been married. I look forward to putting our tree up each year!

2. My favorite thing about a Christmas tree is the smell. I love walking in the house after taking a walk and smelling the tree.

3. We have been given lots of special ornaments which I love.  But, I also love some of the homemade ornaments that I received from my students when I was teaching.

4.  Of course, I don't do the hardest stuff, like carry in the tree, get it straight in the stand, etc., so I know that have it really good.  Chris even does the lights, because he likes to do that part.  Then I can go crazy with the ornaments.

5. I'm not a big fan of taking down the tree, just because of the mess and everything. But, hey, it's worth it!

Here's a shot of our tree this year....the first one I took was pretty bad!

Give Me Five!

Give Me Five pet peeves or dislikes associated with shopping.

1. I don't like finding parking spaces.

2.  I hate the crowds.

3. I hate the stuffy claustrophobic feeling I get waiting in line with people who are wearing too much perfume.

4.  I don't like dealing with pushy sales people.

5. I hate shopping. Thank God my husband doesn't mind doing it, or we'd all be naked and starving.

Give Me Five!

Becca, at BeccA's Buzz has started this cool new meme, called Give Me Five.  This is week three already!  Feel free to participate, and then enter your name in Mr. Linky at her site.

Give Me Five things you like and/or dislike about your birthday.

1.  I love presents.   If it means getting another year older, it's still worth the presents.

2.  I like seeing my family and friends.

3.  I don't really like getting older, but now that I'm 30 I'm feeling pretty young.  I like being settled now.  In my 20s I felt like I was working towards the future all the time.  But now, I feel like I'm living more for today!

4.  Did I mention getting presents?

5.  I like that my birthday is in the late Spring.  Growing up, the weather was always nice, and we could have backyard barbecues.  My brother's birthday is only ten days after mine, so my parents would often give us a joint backyard party, or a big skating rink party. Those were the days.

Give Me Five!

Give_me_five Becca, at BeccA's Buzz has started a new meme!  Actually it's Week 2, but this will be my first entry.  Each Monday, she will give us a topic.  All  you have to do is list five things that go along with this topic, and link back to her site.  You can add pictures, links, or even stories that relate to the topic as it pertains to  you and your life experiences.  Come on, join us!

This week's Topic: Give Me Five favorite amusement park rides.

Well, growing up near Houston, we used to visit Astroworld every summer (at least once).  Sadly, a few years ago, it was torn down.  I believe this is because the property was more valuable than the park.  Anyway, so many of my best memories actually happened there.

Wagon_wheel_4 1. The first time we went there, I was five years old.  My parents left my baby brother with my MawMaw, and they brought me.  I remember that the theme of the kid section was "Shirt Tales."  It was a Hanna Barbera cartoon from the early 80's.  I distinctly remember riding the Wagon Wheel.  That was my first favorite ride.

Xlr812t_2 2. In 1984, the XLR8 arrived at Astroworld.  It was really cool, because you were suspended underneath the track, and your legs would just hang down below. It was fast, but it didn't have any scary drops. It was perfect for kids and adults who weren't into the super scary stuff.

Greezed11t_4 3.  As I got older, my favorite ride became the Greezed Lightnin'. It was crazy fast, and basically just sent you up one loop and up a high slope, where you'd hang a few seconds before being pulled back down, backwards, upside down, up again and then it was over.  Short ride, but so exciting.

Batman11t_2 4.  In 1993, the Batman ride opened. This was another ride where you were hanging under the track.  Only this time, you were getting a real roller coaster experience, with drops and loops.  We used to like to sit in the very front, because you felt like you were falling face first on the drops.

Cyclone15t_3 5.  My number one favorite ride though, was the Texas Cyclone.  I didn't have the courage to ride it until I was older, but it was really fun.  It opened in 1976, and it was an old school wooden roller coaster; complete with head shaking and scary sounding creaks.
