Smart Habit Saturday

This week I'm going to focus on getting more exercise.  My goal this week is to use the Elliptical Machine at least three days.  I've been jogging at night, but it's not very far at all.  Our big block is only about 0.7 miles.  I really feel good when I exercise, I just need to remember to do it!  I also have some videos that I like to exercise to, but if I don't set a time for myself, before I know it the day is over!  Writing it down like this seems to help though.  No more excuses!

Smart Habit Saturday

Well, this week I'm making a fresh start with Smart Habit Saturday.  I'm going to start this week by accepting my failure for the things I didn't accomplish over the past two months.  Actually, I'm feeling kind of blah today, so I thought I'd list the things that I have been doing to help cheer myself up.

1. I always do at least two loads of laundry a day.  This is a good thing.  For a family of three, I don't quite understand how we manage to use so many clothes and towels each day.

2.  I am good about cleaning the bathrooms.  Now that I'm home, it's pretty easy to clean the toilets every few days. 

3.  I cook a big meal from scratch at least three nights a week, and then the other nights we might eat leftovers, pizza, or something simple.  This is a big improvement over the past few years.  We used to eat a lot of frozen things that I'd throw in the oven.  I feel much better about knowing exactly what's going into our bodies now!

4. I walk every night (or jog) with our dog.  This always makes me feel good.  Exercise is a great mood lifter for me.

Week 6:  Only one cup of coffee a day. This week I'm actually going to do this! 

Week 5: No more candy! My husband must eat something sweet after every meal, and I've gotten into the same habit.  All these little bits of chocolate over the weeks add up a lot of extra calories.   I'm not really that much of a sweet tooth anyway.

Week 4: Wow, a cavity made me actually floss my teeth!  (7 out of 7 days).  I haven't been using the elliptical much, but I have been jogging a little every night when I walk the dog.  My allergies are starting to kick in though.  This week I am going to drink less coffee.  I'm only going to make this amount so that I can't cheat.

Week 3: OK, I took a month off from SHS.  I just went to the dentist and I have a cavity.....ugggg.  So I will really floss now every night.  Also, I will make sure I go to the dentist for a cleaning every 6 months.  We've been letting it slide to more like once a year.

Week 2:  I pledge to start timing myself on the computer.  For every hour I spend on the computer, I must use the Elliptical Machine 10 minutes.....will the computer time be worth it?  (6 out of 20 days)

Week 1:  Daily Flossing (4 out of 7 days)

SMART Habits Saturday

Week 1: OK.  This will be my first habit.  I'm only committing to one a week...because I know me...and I work well with baby steps. 

My first habit is daily flossing....yes, daily...I'm going to the dentist in one month so that should add to my motivation.
